The location of the cottage is in a lovely rural area but was central to visit most areas by car from The Dales, North Yorkshire Moors, the coast or places like York. July 26, 2019 Went to stay at Close Cottage as I was competing in Castle Howard 70.3 triathlon, this was a perfect location - just 20 mins away down beautiful country roads, some... read more of which were on the bike course.
The cottage was stunning; super clean and Paula had left lots of little post it notes around the house to explain how things work etc. The cottage was very spacious, with a huge bathroom and lovely bedroom - the only thing I would say, is if you like your room super dark like me, take an eye mask as the curtains allow the light in first thing.

The kitchen was very well equipped, the bedroom and bathroom were both huge, and the living and dining areas were lovely and cosy. Paula had left lots of useful nice touches, from chocolate biscuits on arrival and fresh milk in the fridge to the binder full of laminated country walks - both from just outside the front door to coastal hikes further afield across the Moors.
Strongly recommend for a countryside home away from home, good for accessing local villages, the great outdoors and the city of York.
